At the core of the Merger LRF XT50 is a 1280x1024 thermal sensor with a 12 micron pixel pitch, delivering ultra-high-definition thermal imagery with the fine detail needed for confident animal identification. Silhouettes, anatomical features and subtle movement all resolve clearly, even in low thermal contrast conditions such as rain, fog or high atmospheric humidity.

A large-format sensor paired with a 50 mm F1.0 objective gives the Merger LRF XT50 an expansive 17.5 degree field of view at 2x base magnification, with variable zoom to 16x and a best-in-class field-of-view-to-magnification ratio throughout the range. Detection reaches out to 2,515 yards on a standard six-foot target, and the integrated laser rangefinder measures to 1,600 yards in both single-measurement and continuous scanning modes.

The unit is IPX7 waterproof-rated, running reliably through heavy rain and snow and surviving submersion in up to three feet of water for thirty minutes. A facial proximity sensor drives the Display Off function, killing backlight the moment the device leaves your eyes and restoring the image instantly when you bring it back up, keeping you undetected during covert observation.
